With the backing of Heatwave, Inc., Texas Showdown was able to increase in size, substantially, for the 2008 show season. It was easy to see the increase in size over previous years as the early morning roll-in on Saturday consisted of hundreds of trucks and cars that were waiting (some for as long as two hours!) to get into the show. The staff managed to get the long lines inside as quickly as possible, but the line of rides lasted throughout the day-- all day! With a solid show field, huge vendor alley, and massive amounts of spectators, this show has grown to an almost legendary status overnight.
Events at the show included: Live music/DJ, burnout contest, hot dog eating contest, motorcycle stunt show, BMX exhibition, USACi Audio Sound Off, and wet T-shirt contest. Yep, one could definitely feel the new owner's presence in an already familiar atmosphere! The show was also packed with plenty of vendors, such as: Stereo Max Scion, NOS energy drink, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Soundstream, Memphis Audio, Royal Purple, Southern Auto Sports, Meguiar's, South Coast Customs, Stereo EFX, Spencive Rydez, Drop 'Em Wear, B&C Offroad, Mind To Metal, Texas House Of Dubz, Chaotic Rods & Customs, Custom Wheels By Dima, Kustom Werks, 522 Customs, Kingpin Kustomz, and Westbound Cycles.
With Mother Nature cooperating this year, Texas Showdown's founder, Darryl Tracy, wasn't kidding when he said the 2008 event wouldn't include all the rain from last year's show... and he was dead solid perfect! For more information on the 2009 event, visit: www.TexasShowdown.com.
