Elite Streets Magazine - The All Encompassing Custom Auto Enthusiast Magazine

Southeast Showdown 2008

South Carolina is 31,113 square miles making it 40th in geographic area among the fifty states, and ranking 26th in population. The Palmetto State's more than 4-million citizens value its rich history, a legacy that is a prime factor in making tourism one of the state's largest industries. One such tourist attraction, especially if you are a custom auto enthusiast, is the annual Southeast Showdown hosted by AcrophobiA, which is one of the largest custom auto clubs in the United States.

This marks the sixth year for this growing show that was rightfully awarded the Mini-Truckin' Magazine Show of The Year in 2006. As always, the Southeast Showdonw did not fail to impress the ESM staff. This year the Anderson Fairgrounds once again laid out the red carpet for 400+ colorful and clean custom cruisers including late model domestic pickups, imports, low riders, and even a few traditional street rods.

In addition to the show-n-shine event, the weekend also included a bikini show, burn out contest, draggin' contest, and various club games. Many vendors were on hand such as Allgoods, Tint Plus, Hot Rides Magazine, Drop 'Em Wear?, Custom Sound, Devious Designs, Drop Jaw Magazine, and yours truly... Elite Streets Magazine.

Awards consisted of $1,000 to the best debuting truck, best of show: mini-truck, fullsize truck, 4x4, import car, domestic car, classic/rod, chopper, and lowrider.

The spectators began rolling in late morning, but the gate kept busy and by day's end 2,500+ people had come to enjoy some top shelf custom cars and trucks. The 2009 show will have a venue change, so be sure to check out www.southeastshowdown.com for updates! Until then...
